Director of Special Services

Dear Westwood & Washington Township Residents,

My name is Robert Cerco and I would like to take this opportunity to present myself to you as the Director of Special Services for the Westwood Regional Public School District.

It is my personal and professional goal to further this district’s commitment to students’ excellence, one that maintains an inclusive education for all.  Insomuch where every attempt is made to educate special education students in the least restrictive environment by integrating them into general education classes whenever possible. An inclusive education where modifications and supplementary aids and services are utilized effectively to make our students successful in the classroom and individualize instruction is designed to meet the diverse needs of our students. Special education teachers, working along with general educators, focused on individual learning styles that actively engage students in the learning process. Such instruction that stresses interdisciplinary connections, relevance of curriculum, and problem solving skills is committed to the betterment of all students.

I join Westwood Regional School District in taking pride in its special services department and its ability to best serve students who receive special education and related services by integrating a district-wide approach to development of staff, programs, and community outreach.  The administration is enthusiastic regarding the better outcomes that may be achieved by their new initiatives, with re-organization of the Child Study Team, improving on the Intervention and Referral Services and increasing supportive services to all students involved in early education as a means of early intervention.  I look forward to continued communications with you, and welcome you to contact me at any time.  My office is now located in the Lower Office of the Jr/Sr HS and I can be reached at (201) 664-0880 ext 2047 or by email at rcerco@wwrsd.org .
