Summer Enrichment Course Offerings 2013
Grades K through 2
(July 8th - August 2nd)
 
Kindergarten Readiness - Grade K  (8:30-9:25 am)

This class is designed to provide a readiness program for children entering Kindergarten. Activities in basic concepts, directionality, oral-language development, listening skills, and social interaction will be stressed.  For children entering Kindergarten in September, it is a valuable experience.

 

Storytelling - Grade K  (9:30-10:25 am)

The use of imagination in storytelling helps to awaken listening, sharpen the senses, focus attention, and encourage language development.  We capture the children’s imagination through song, role play, and timeless stories.

 

Reading, Writing, and Fun - Grades K-2  (10:30-11:25am)

Students will improve their reading skills, write various types of stories, and enjoy fun activities in response to readings of favorite children’s books.

 

Amazing Math - Grades K-2  (11:30 am-12:25 pm)

Students will find how amazing math is as they learn about patterns, numbers, operations, and more!  Hands-on activities will help develop real understanding and confidence in mathematics.

 

Write On! - Grades 1-2  (8:30-9:25 am)

A combo of crafts and creative writing will make this a great time!  Students will create unique crafts and develop stories. Students will learn elaboration in writing and have fun creating their crafts!

 

Computer Carnival - Grades 1-2  (8:30-9:25 am)

Students will be provided with an invaluable learning experience using innovative computer based learning adventures.

 

Word Play for Kids - Grades 1-2  (9:30-10:25 am)

Students will enjoy word play fun as they learn new words and use them is a variety of ways.  They will build vocabulary, reading, and writing skills when they complete word scrambles, word searches, wordoku and more!

 

Fun with Science - Grades 1-2  (9:30-10:25 am)

What happens if…?  This is a question that drives scientists of all ages!  Our young scientists will perform hands on experiments to answer new questions every day.

 

Math Puzzlers - Grades 1-2  (10:30-11:25 am)

Have fun using puzzles and games to enhance math and logic skills.  Students will be challenged to apply mathematical concepts and develop enhanced special reasoning skills.

 

Creative Creations - Grades 1-2  (11:30 am-12:25 pm)

Students will develop the endless possibilities art has to offer!  Whether it be a craft, 2D, or 3D piece of art this class will explore the various aspects of art.  Basic art making skills such as color mixing, compositional design, painting, building, and sculpture will be featured.
