“Everything today is thoroughly modern…” in the WRMS production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, the smash Broadway hit and 2002 winner of 7 tony awards including the coveted BEST Musical!
WRMS will beperforming Thoroughly Modern Millie April 19th (7pm) and April 20th(12pm and 7pm) in Hurley Theater at Westwood Regional Jr./Sr. High School.
Auditions will takeplace Wednesday November 28th and Friday, November 30th,after school.
Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever. Based on the popular movie, the stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers.
Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfectly constructed evening of mad-cap merriment. And with the role of Millie Dillmount, musical theatre has found a new heroine for the ages in Thoroughly Modern Millie.
ON WHAT DAYS DOES JPAC TAKE PLACE? Until we have auditions and create a rehearsal schedule, we cannot give a definitive answer on this. The part that you recieve will determine which days you will need to stay after school. If you are not in a specific scene that we are rehearsing that day, you are not required to be there. Usually the larger group scenes take place on Fridays after school as well as on a rotating schedule Tuesdays-Thursdays during the months leading up to rehearsal so that you can still take part in various clubs after school. Some students may end up having to stay after school 2, 3, or even 4 days after school.
WHEN ARE AUDITIONS? Auditions will take place after school on either Wednesday November 28th, or Friday November 30th. Students will have to sign up for one of these days. The sign up Sheet will be available outside room 1 beginning the monday after Teacher's convention (Nov. 12th!) Audition Packets will be available October 23rd. Students may also come after school on November 14th and 16th for an Audition Workshop in which Mr. Vallies will go over the audition material and some tips and tricks to help with auditions!
