1:1 Chromebooks

As previously communicated, we are happy and excited to announce that, in keeping with our community-created Strategic Action Plan, the Jr./Sr. High School will be moving forward with our 1:1 Chromebook initiative for all students in grades 8-12 for the 2018-2019 school year.  We successfully piloted this initiative with all current 8th graders this past school year from March to June.  Our current plan entails all students in grades 8-12 receiving a Chromebook for use in school and at home until they graduate.  The plan calls for a modest annual assessment of $30 per student which is due August 31. More information is available on our 1:1 Portal.

Grades 8 & 9

As per the Chromebook Agreement  parents/guardians are required to purchase an annual district-managed insurance plan for their child’s Chromebook use for the upcoming school year. The cost of the insurance is $30, which can be paid with a credit card online at Pay For It. Additionally, the insurance fee can be paid with cash or check made out to “Westwood Regional Board of Education.”  If you choose to pay by cash/check, then submit your payment to an administrative assistant in the Main Office at Westwood High School (Main Office Summer Hours are from 8am-2:30pm Monday-Friday). Please make sure your cash/check payment is submitted at the Main Office in an envelope marked with your child’s name and “Chromebook Insurance Fee.”

It is important for your child’s Chromebook fee to be submitted to the district as soon as possible as the fee goes into a fund that offsets the general cost to the district of implementing, managing, and maintaining a one-to-one program.

***Payment needs to be received before a chromebook is issued.  Chromebooks can be picked up on the days and times listed below:

July 24 from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

July 29 from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The week of August 26 from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

While it is suggested that the Chromebook Insurance Fee is paid as soon as possible, the fee can be paid in the Main Office on the day that you or your child pick-up their Chromebook.

If you have questions about the Insurance Fee please click here, or if you have any general questions about the 1:1 program click here to view the 1:1 Chromebook Portal.
