
WWRSD Special Education Parents Advisory Group (SEPAG) is hosting another virtual meeting next Wednesday, February 7th, 6pm. The NJ Dept. of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities, will present "Navigating the DDD System."
This one-hour webinar will include a Q&A session and will explain the types of services, support and opportunities available after schooling ends. The DDD encourages families to start thinking about this transition around age 16 (but encourages families with any age children/young adults to attend).

Black History Month is an annual celebration of the contributions and accomplishments of Black Americans who have helped shaped our history. The 2024 theme, “African Americans and the Arts,” explores the African American influence on visual and performing arts, literature, fashion, folklore, language, film, music, architecture, culinary and other forms of cultural expression. The WWRSD celebrates Black History Month.


Ms. Calderón, Ms. Hughes, & Mrs. . Vélez attended PD on how to build a thinking classroom in math. Building Thinking K-12 Classrooms in Mathematics helps teachers implement 14 optimal practices for thinking that create an ideal setting for deep mathematics learning to occur.




On Wednesday, Mr.Deblasio's Honors Design Thinking class traveled to the American Dream Mall, where they created social media content to upload on their Instagram and TikTok accounts to help improve the mall's population. They separated into 5 groups and came up with an itinerary and marketing plan to produce up to 15 pieces of content to edit and upload. Their main goal is to help increase the mall's population, to attract more people through social media.

The WWRSD is in the process of formulating a student integrity policy about ChatGPT/AI. The goal of the committee is to create and foster a policy in which all students learn and demonstrate proficiency in their skills and knowledge in an honest manner. Students in Mrs. Maul's and Mr. Krebs' Physics class are culminating their unit on motion by investigating a car's crash worthiness. They used the engineering design process to build a paper car that could carry an egg down a ramp and protect it during a collision with a brick wall at the bottom.

Class of 2025: SAT registration is now open for the March, May, and June weekend exams which are now delivered in a digital format. Students can receive free digital SAT practice through the Bluebook™ testing app. Students will be able to take a full-length digital practice test, view their results, and get linked to additional instructional materials, resources, and lessons on Official Digital SAT Prep on Khan Academy®.

In light of the current weather predictions and with the safety of our staff and students in mind, Westwood Regional Schools will have an early dismissal scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, January 19, 2024. The district will continue to monitor the storm’s progress throughout the night. If we feel a closure is necessary due to a change of the storm’s pattern, we will notify everyone by 6:30 a.m. The dismissal schedule is as follows: Pre-School will be dismissed at 12:05 p.m., Grades K-5 will be dismissed at 12:50 p.m., Middle School will be dismissed at 12:36 p.m., and High School students will be dismissed at 12:11 p.m.


A representative from Alternatives to Domestic Violence spoke to students in all 12th grade health classes today. Topics covered included healthy and unhealthy relationships, boundaries, and consent. These workshops will continue into quarter 3.



'Don't you know that drinks can rot your teeth? Ms. McKaba's AP Chemistry class is trying to see if that holds true by testing the actual acid concentration in common drinks such as Gatorade, Propel, Sprite, and coconut water. Who knew this Chemistry thing could be so helpful!
