In honor of the one hundred year anniversary of women's suffrage, our school has received a pop-up museum display from the National Archives. The Rightfully Hers: American Women and the Vote display is currently featured in the Media Center.

Counselors will be visiting 8th grade study halls throughout the year to conduct guidance workshops! Our Quarter 1 workshop focuses on getting to know your counselor, completing an interest inventory, and reviewing the importance of getting involved in our school community.


Rutgers Newark visited WHS today. Rutgers Newark offers over 40 undergraduate programs and over 50 graduate programs. It is the premier urban research university with state of the art facilities for all majors and programs.

Voter Registration Drive for seniors today sponsored by the Bergen County Clerk's Office which included a short video and assistance in filling out the New Jersey Voter Registration Application.


Dennis Sheeran from the Center for Effective School Practices @ Rutgers University worked with our Math/Business teachers on techniques used for student engagement and focused on strategies for differentiating their instructional approach and assessment.



Science & Applied Technology teachers evaluated lessons using the NGSS Lesson Screener and engaged in discussion and review of the key principles of a differentiated classroom!



Our Physical Education Department updates our mountain bike curriculum using Google maps to create safe routes for students.


After a morning of working with the VPA Department regarding diversity, inclusivity, & equity within the classroom, the English department spent the afternoon conducting a self-assessment of current practices, discussion of struggles, challenges, room for improvement, and more.


Amanda Seewald (formerly the President of the Foreign Language Educators of New Jersey) planning collaboratively with Westwood Regional Italian, French, and Spanish teachers. The focus of the workshop was games, station activities, and literature circles.

Great Day of Professional Development for our staff! An educator from the New York Historical Society presented workshops on slavery and women reformers to teachers in the social studies department.

SUNY Oswego visited Westwood today! They offer unique majors not offered by other schools such as Zoology, Meteorology, and Creative Writing! On campus there is now a new Fine & Performing Arts building and also a new School of Education building.

Syracuse University visited Westwood today! Syracuse was ranked the #1 private institution for active military and military families as of last year. Juniors and seniors: Sign up for upcoming college visits in Naviance!


Katie Murphy, a Senior in our Structured Learning Experience Program, will be an intern at Sterling-Sound in Edgewater. Her mentor, Chris Gehringer, is a Grammy Award winning Sr. Mastering Engineer. The hands-on experience is what makes this program invaluable to our students.


Thank you to Dr. Gonzalez and the Board of Education for recognizing our 21 AP Scholars, 4 AP Scholars with Honors, 12 AP Scholars with Distinction, 1 National AP Scholar, and 3 Commended students in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program! Congrats to all of the students!


Caldwell College came to Westwood today! They have a new Computer Science major, and a new Business Degree in eSports Management (competitive gaming).
Caldwell was just voted #1 Best Value College in NJ by U.S. News World Report.
