
Congrats to Andrew Park (Grade 8) and Paul McClair (Grade 12) for being selected students of the month for September!



Four Westwood Regional Art Teachers presented at Artify, the AENJ, Art Educators of New Jersey, annual conference over the weekend of October 5-7. Pamela Duffus and Ariel Rudin presented two best practice lectures about service learning and traveling with students titled, Empowering Students to Make a Difference and The Power of Travel for Student Success; Michele Keller shared her creative digital art assignments in a lecture titled, Foto Friday and Other One Day Assignments; and Lynda Panno led a sold out, hands-on, workshop teaching educators how to create sheetrock carvings. The four teachers exhibited professionalism and a desire to share their knowledge with other art teachers from across the state. In addition to inspiring others, they developed their craft and learned new concepts and techniques to bring back to the classroom.

A representative from Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) visited the AP/Honors Studio Art classes. She discussed SCAD opportunities, provided information, and reviewed student portfolios.

Ms. Panno leads a workshop on sheetrock sculpture at the recent Art Educators of New Jersey Fall Conference!

Westwood students attended the Bergen County LGBTQ+ Leadership Summit sponsored by the County Executive and Freeholders. The students spent the day working with over 200 of their peers on issues related to school safety and the LGBTQ+ student experience.


Montclair State University visited Westwood today! MSU offers a presidential scholarship to in-state students who apply with a 3.5 GPA or higher. They are also a test optional school.Juniors and Seniors: Check naviance for upcoming visits!

Students in Biology Class visited the Meadowlands Environmental Center on October 4!



The University of Hartford and SUNY Stony Brook recently visited Westwood! Juniors and Seniors: Please check naviance for upcoming visits!

Students in Mr. Thomas' Spanish IV class registered with the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (Spain) for a free online course. Once completed students will receive a certificate of completion!


In Child Development classes, students played the “Brain Game” where they built brains with materials they earned through childhood life experiences they were dealt!! These were some of the tallest and the strongest brains!


As a way to emphasize civic engagement and to inspire our students to become informed citizens, our school sponsored a Town Hall event. The Town Hall featured political parties who are running for the two State Assembly seats in the 39th Legislative District.


Students from Mr. Piskadlo's AP Environmental classes assisted 5th graders from George and Washington Schools with water quality tests of Schlegel Lake!


Our Design Thinking class along with their teachers Ms. Murray & Mr. DeBlasio, met their corporate sponsors, Mars Wrigley and were presented with their upcoming challenge! They will be presenting their findings to the company in January! .





Week of Respect! Great assembly today titled "A Better High" focusing on natural highs, emotional resilience, and mental health!


Congratulations to Franchesca Doell for being recognized by the NHRP as a National Hispanic Merit Scholar. This program recognizes 5,000 Hispanic/Latino juniors/year from among the 400,000+ who take the PSAT. Franchesca is a Senior and is pictured with her Counselor, Brenda Lyons.
