Our WRMS School Counseling Department received the Grief Sensitive Schools Designation this week. We thank New York Life and Coalition to Support Grieving Students. The Grief-Sensitive Schools Initiative (GSSI) seeks to better equip educators to care for grieving students by introducing GrievingStudents.org and other grief resources.

We would like to take a moment to CONGRATULATE one of our own!! CONGRATULATIONS CAITLIN FABROCINI ON K-8 SCHOOL COUNSELOR OF THE YEAR! The Bergen County School Counselor Association Executive Board would like to congratulate Caitlin on being selected as K-8 Counselor of the Year! Caitlin's nominations by members of the BCSCA Executive Board were seconded by all for her fabulous work in organizing and executing tremendous programming for the county’s K-8 counselors. Thank you Caitlin for all you do for your students and the Westwood Regional Middle School community!
Please join us in congratulating Ms. Fabrocini who was recently recognized as the 2023-2024 K-8 Counselor of the Year by the Beren County School Counselors Association. Please also congratulate Ms. Morrison who was previously honored as the VFW Teacher of the Year and was recently recognized by the VFW as one of their "National Citizenship Education Teacher" award winners. Way to go!

Ms. Buonforte's 8th grade sports reporters are joining the March Madness excitement by publishing their own podcasts. Tune in to hear their basketball expertise!
6th grade scientists in Mr. Fadini's, Mrs. Zalarick's, and Dr. Flower's science classes examined all kinds of cells using microscopes at three different levels of magnification. They looked at fish scales, onion skin, cheek cells, human blood cells, and a mosquito's mouth.
8th grade journalists are tuning into March Madness to report on recent games. Students studied how sports reporters utilize their skills by replaying highlights, interviewing coaches and fans, and analyzing athletes' performance. Next week students will be releasing podcasts!

It is for families in Bergen County, NJ. to use as a way to locate local resources (events, programs, webinars, services, professional development, industry news) geared toward family wellbeing. When you select News & Events, you will find a chronological listing of events to participate in for you and/or your child, in-person and/or virtually.
Next week is our Spring Spirit Week and we’re changing up the traditional "Battle of the Classes"! As a school, if we collectively earn a total of 1600 points by the afternoon of Happy Day, we will have a staff and student ice cream truck treat during lunch one day after spring break. Let's show our school spirit and win that ice cream truck!
